Prof. Dr. Wilhelm

We are working in our group on chiral ionic liquids, chiral carbenes for catalysis and on carbon-nanomaterials. The topics chiral ionic liquids and chiral carbenes for catalysis can be helpful for environment friendly processes. The research field of ionic liquids belongs to the larger area of „Green Chemistry“, since these new organic materials have nearly no vapor pressure and since they can be easily recycled, after a reaction is completed. Also the development of new carbenes for catalysis can be seen as a part of this area, since here the development of atom-economic catalytic systems for preventing toxic waste is a major issue. In the area of carbon-nanomaterials we are interested to develop new heterogeneous catalysts.

The research group was founded in 2003 at the TU Clausthal. After a 10 year stay at the University of Paderborn, we are back at the TUC since 2019.

Research

Research

Our central research area is the development and investigation of new innovative materials and catalytic methods for sustainable processes.

Publications

Publications

Our publications include various catalysts and materials that are investigated, among other things, in photocatalysis and organocatalysis and are used as ionic electrolytes for redox flow batteries.
